Suggested Timeline
The Challenge involves researching, planning and carrying out a course of action that will make a positive environmental change in your community. The choosing and planning part of this project will take about three or four weeks. Community involvement, starting or completing the activity, and recording the results can take four weeks or longer, depending on the treatment students develop.
- Step 1 Choose It - One week
- Step 2 Research It - One to two weeks
- Step 3 Plan It - Two to three weeks
- Step 4 Do It - Four to six weeks, depending on the project
- Step 5 Analyze It - Two to three days
- Step 6 Share It - Two to three days
Overall the project should take between 9 and 13 weeks to complete.
Applications are being accepted from August 20, 2009 through March 15, 2010. The 51 State Finalists will be announced on or about April 26, 2010, and the National Finalists will be announced on or about May 10, 2010.
